Nutrition education is available by individual appointment in Darwin, Palmerston and Alice Springs for clients with diabetes or cardiac conditions. The nutrition educator also presents information in some of the group education sessions. You need a doctor’s referral to see the nutrition educator, but, if you are already seeing one of our other educators with a referral, you do not need another one.

Type 1 Diabetes (Including children and adult services)
Type 2 Diabetes
Gestational Diabetes
Impaired Glucose Tolerance (Pre-diabetes)
Cardiac conditions

Nutrition education will assist you to
Develop a healthy eating plan
Control blood glucose and cholesterol levels
Understand what is in the foods you eat and how to read food labels
Control weight and achieve a healthy weight
Individual Appointments
Individual appointments are available in Darwin and Alice Springs for all people with diabetes and cardiac conditions. Darwin appointments are available at both the office in Tiwi and at Palmerston Health Precinct (by booking through Healthy Living NT Tiwi office). Phone appointments are also available for remote area clients.
Group sessions
The nutrition educator presents information in the diabetes “Getting Started” group in both Darwin and Alice Springs and the Gestational Group and the Healthy Heart Program in Darwin.
