Home > All About Diabetes > Diabetes Education ServicesHealthy Living NT has Diabetes Education Services based in both Darwin and Alice Springs with telephone support services for the rest of the Northern Territory. Diabetes education services include group and individual education for people with diabetes and their families. A referral from your doctor is preferred as this provides a confirmation of your exact diagnosis together with other relevant test results, that helps us better tailor our services to you. Education is provided by qualified Diabetes Nurse Educators and Dietitians. Interpreters are available as required. Education is available for people with type 1, type 2, Gestational Diabetes, and pre-diabetes (Impaired Glucose Tolerance). Dietary advice and Home Blood Glucose Monitoring advice is available, as well as medication and insulin commencement and stabilization. Getting Started GroupGetting Started is a group education session designed for people with type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes (Impaired Glucose Tolerance). The session gives a good introduction to diabetes and healthy eating. All participants will be offered a follow-up individual appointment with the Diabetes Nurse Educator and Dietitian. Family members and friends are welcome. Darwin Every 2nd Wednesday at 9.00 - 11.30am. Phone 08 8927 8488 Gestational Diabetes GroupGestational Diabetes is a weekly group education session designed for women who have just being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The session provides an introduction about diabetes and healthy eating. All participants will be offered a follow-up individual appointment with the Diabetes Nurse Educator and Dietitian. Darwin Every Friday at 10am. Phone 08 8927 8488 Individual Appointments Individual appointments are available in Darwin and Alice Springs for all people with diabetes. Darwin appointments are available at both the office in Tiwi and at Palmerston Health Precinct (by booking through Healthy Living NT Tiwi office).
