Products available through the Healthy Living NT website fall into two categories:
National Diabetes Services Scheme Products
This refers to essential diabetes supplies such as testing strips; syringes; insulin pen needles; and insulin pump consumables which are available free or at heavily subsidised prices to those registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme. This scheme is administered by Diabetes Australia on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.
Healthy Living NT Products
This includes a wide range of additional items to assist people to maintain a healthy lifestyle and are available at discount prices to Healthy Living NT members.
National Diabetes Services Scheme Product Guidelines
Eligibility
While a doctor’s prescription is not necessary to purchase National Diabetes Services Scheme Products, you are not entitled to subsidised prices on National Diabetes Services Scheme products unless you are registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme.
If you are not eligible for an Australian Medicare Card you cannot apply for National Diabetes Services Scheme registration.
If you believe you are eligible for National Diabetes Services Scheme registration, but are not registered with the scheme, please contact Diabetes Australia on 1300 136 588.
Diabetes Australia will not provide subsidised prices on National Diabetes Services Scheme products outside Australia – anyone registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme who is currently residing outside Australia will be required to purchase essential supplies at the non-subsidised price. Regularity of order
Healthy Living NT has an obligation to supply amounts of product up to national levels of average usage. These levels are 900 reagent strips and/or 1200 syringes per 180 day period.
National Diabetes Services Scheme registrants who require supplies in excess of these amounts may complete an exemption form which is available from Healthy Living NT. Please phone 1300 136 588.
You may order National Diabetes Services Scheme products as frequently as you like.
To ensure you do not run out of essential supplies, we recommend you order at least two weeks in advance.
For products with an expiry date, we recommend you do not over-order to avoid unnecessary wastage.
Product Despatch
Under the conditions of the Commonwealth Agreement, Diabetes Australia cannot despatch goods unless you have provided all the necessary information and made the required payment.
In Australia
National Diabetes Service Scheme products will be delivered to National Diabetes Services Scheme registrants anywhere in Australia.
Postage and handling is free to registrants ordering National Diabetes Services Scheme products only.
Please allow 10 - 14 working days for delivery.
If requiring express post extra charges will apply.
Overseas
Subsidised prices on National Diabetes Services Scheme products do not apply outside Australia.
Healthy Living NT will not despatch National Diabetes Services Scheme products to registrants currently living or holidaying overseas.
Product Exchange
Healthy Living NT regrets that it is not permitted to exchange National Diabetes Services Scheme goods incorrectly ordered by the registrant.
Concession Information
If you are the holder of any of these cards you are entitled to further subsidies:
Health Care Card – Health Care Card (Unemployed, New Start Allowance, Low Income, Disability Allowances).
